A House Not Made With Hands

Janie and I have been attending Christ the King Anglican Church for over a year now. We were both confirmed into the Anglican Church on Pentecost Sunday, May 27, 2018. As I continue to seek ordination while at Beeson Divinity School, I am learning a great deal about this tradition. As our rector (pastor) Michael Novotny is in Jerusalem attending the GAFCON conference, I had the opportunity to preach my first sermon as an Anglican. This sermon is on 2 Corinthians 5:1-10 and is part of a series on Paul’s epistle to the Corinthians. After Paul had shown his audience that though his outer man was perishing, his inner man was being renewed day by day. In chapter 5, he addresses what I think is an obvious question arising from this previous point: How is the gospel good news if it is only renewing my inward man and not my whole being? The gospel does renew our entire being, but this can only be understood through the resurrection of the body. I am beyond thankful for the opportunity to share God’s Word with his people.
